Strategic Business Consultant @Merck 2014-2015
As a strategic business consultant, I did setup a Big Data Community of Practice to create awareness within all businesses of Merck. The key in creating awareness is to do it vertically throughout the business.
Listen and learn from our business partners since a Big Data project starts with a ´question´, the data will follow the question.
What would you do if you had all the data in the world?
Create awareness on toolings like Flume, Pig, Hive, Ambari, HDFS, AWS, Cloud, Data sources, and Metadata repository.
The CoE is also part of a learning experience for our customers, what is Big Data?, what is Hadoop?
Big Data is about thinking big and starting small. So the data is telling the story.
Topics such as MDM, and a federated data model are especially relevant to understanding where the value in your data lake is.
Most noteworthy; Implemented a 7 server Hadoop cluster using Ambari on Amazon Web Services.
Implemented HUE on top of the Hadoop cluster to interface more easily with Hadoop for our users.
Keeping in close contact with our strategic partners and managing the portfolio from an EMEA perspective.
Solution Architect Eng., Dev. & Integration EIM @Merck 2013-2014
As the Solution Architect on Enterprise Information Management, I presented our service portfolio to the business. Creating awareness, and marketing the solutions we could provide to the business from a data integration point of view. Dashboarding and reporting tools like Spotfire, and Composite created a seamless environment for our end users, mostly MT.
Portfolio and demand planning as well as handling the chargeback on our projects.
As the database lead for the EUCAN CRM Transformation Program, I have taken responsibility for the deployment of a cutting-edge database landscape for the CRM solution (Veeva CRM) across Merck in Europe and Canada. This program is a multi-year effort to support the Go To Market strategy for 9 markets: UK, CA, NO, SE, DK, FI, AT, CH, and FR. Technical Analyst @Merck 2010-2013
As the EMEA/APAC lead for archiving strong regulated data I presented the solution we build. While the solution is built on IBM OPTIM and in combination with the processes in place I was able to deliver an end-to-end solution for the customer. Applications that are decommissioned or retired but do have a retention period, legal hold, or other regulatory reasons on their data should be kept. I did bring in demand (feasibility analysis) from the business as projects and led a large number of international projects in the two regions. The last step was to lead the decommissioning of the systems.
I executed the project coordination between multi-disciplined IT teams on various database projects. Analysis of business requirements and act as an intermediary between de business and key stakeholders internally as well as externally with strategic partners.
